What is LNG?

Liquefied Natural Gas is natural gas that has been liquefied by cooling it to a temperature of -162°C. Natural gas in liquid form takes up 600 times less volume than in gaseous form. This makes it possible to transport large quantities on ships and tanker trucks, without the need for expensive pipelines. Once it arrives at its destination, LNG is stored in a specially insulated tank. Using an evaporator, the liquid is returned to its original gaseous state, ready for further usage. This makes LNG an excellent alternative for users of large quantities of diesel, heating oil and LPG.
